From humble beginnings, Dial∙a∙Bed opened their first store in Durban, October 1996. The essence of Dial∙a∙Bed was born on this day. Dial∙a∙Bed began marketing efforts with a double-page advertisement in the Durban Sunday Tribune and opened with a warehouse full of stock and an incredibly disruptive customer proposition: customers could buy beds over the phone or in the store. This differentiated us and made for a very risky move as the mattress market was very traditional at the time, but from the beginning, it was always Dial∙a∙Bed’s priority to offer our customers buying options and to make shopping easier. It is for this reason that Dial∙a∙Bed has also always offered comfort testing station in every store as well as a comfort exchange option, to create a risk-free shopping experience for our customers.
