The Glen Shopping Centre has implemented various efforts on the road to being a more responsible business.
The Glen has installed a 1 099 kWp solar PV on the rooftop in September 2020. The system consists of 2 534 430 W half-cut Mono Percium panels that are currently the most commercially efficient panels available.
The panels will generate approximately 1 811 000 kWh energy per annum, which saves approximately 2 572 tons of carbon emissions every year and equates to 9% of the total annual energy requirements at The Glen being produced from renewable resources.
All The Glen’s ablution facilities are linked to a greywater system and our landscaping uses borehole water, in an effort to reduce the use of municipality water. Waste is a huge by-product of such a large building and The Glen is currently recycling 90% of the waste produced. LED fluorescent lights have been installed as an upgrade to 90% of The Glen’s parking lights.
The Glen supports various charities, including its most recent beneficiaries; Oliver’s House, Angels Baby Sanctuary, Santa Shoebox Project, and Thusanani Children’s Foundation.
